The Institute of Directors Zimbabwe in partnership with First Capital Bank will be launching the Chairman’s Forum in Zimbabwe at an Exclusive Chairman’s Cocktail Event, hosted by the Institute’s Chairman, Mr. Kangai Maukazuva, at The Country Club, Highlands on the 24th of June 2022.
The Chairman’s Forum is a ground-breaking initiative by the Institute to create a platform for Chairmans and Vice Chairmans to discuss emerging trends, strategies, and solutions to challenges encountered by corporate boards in the 21st Century. The platform seeks to provide the modern Chairman with a full spectrum of corporate governance best practices with special attention on the roles and responsibilities of the Chairperson.
As a leading governance Institute celebrating 64 years of dedication to upholding excellence, enterprise, integrity, and ethics in directors, raising the standard of corporate governance in industry and commerce, we have learnt that the Chairman’s work is unlike no other. It’s a hot seat to be assumed by well-groomed and nurtured individuals. The Institute has concentrated its focus on the Director Competency Framework. Today’s, chairman is expected to be well equipped with appropriate skills, adequate knowledge, and the right mindset. Exuding these three in the boardroom will always yield success. The chairperson is expected to blend the view of today, tomorrow, and beyond. One is expected to secure and assemble a dedicated diverse team and to balance inclusion, challenge, and debate in the boardroom, manage the complex boardroom dynamics, Shareholder activism, handle individual director performance and manage information overload among other issues.
A series of exclusive dedicated events and services including an Annual Chairman’s Cocktail will be set up as a platform to equip the Chairpersons with critical right skills, mindset, and knowledge as prescribed on our Director Competency Framework. The platform seeks to capacitate leaders of all sectors of the economy; Large and Listed Companies, State Owned Enterprises and Parastatals, NGOs and Civil Society Organizations and Small and Medium Sized Organizations.

Ultimately, it is the Institutes thrust to proffer solutions to the significant challenges that the Republic of Zimbabwe must address to promote a sustainable development path, based on profiles of Corporate Governance competencies contributing to global efforts to combat corruption and promote ethical best practice.
